A Washington-based winery’s website has been hacked by a group with ties to Islamic State (IS).
The Latah Creek Winery’s website was hacked by a group that calls itself “Team System DZ” last last week, as reported by
kxly.com.
The website displayed a message on its front page with comments
including “I am Muslim & I love Jihad”, followed by “Islamic State
List to restore the right of Muslims who have been killed by your
governments savage and unjust.”
It went on to say that IS will restore dignity for Muslims, “purge
the land of the Muslims from the hypocrites infidels” and, also, “F***
USA & Israel.”
BHW1, the ad agency that built the Latah Creek site, was also hacked by Team System DZ.
“The website locked up and an ISIS screen came on,” said Mike Conway,
owner of Latah Creek Winery. “It brought home the fact that this is
something that is real in the world and not going away”.
While disturbing, Conway said it was not targeting the winery
specifically, but was something that was happening on a national basis.
“This is an issue that’s not going away, we need to be vigilant and
if we see something like this report it”, he said. “Don’t just think
it’s normal course of business because you know this may lead to someone
else being able to find something.”
Conway is now working with the FBI to determine the cause of the hack.
